History
Since
1973 Doug and Barb Stiegler have welcomed individuals and families into their
home for spiritual growth through teaching seminars or just joining in a Christian family
setting. In 1982, after an intensive time of prayer, their garage was cleaned
out and made ready for major renovations! Over the next two years a continual
flow of donations of building materials, skilled and un-skilled labor, finances
and encouragement led to the dedication of the the present retreat house in
August, 1984.
Each
year after that more people heard about it and from 300 - 600 people per year
have made use of the facility.
Shortly
after the completion of the Retreat House the Lord allowed the purchase of an
adjacent 13 acre tract of land. Currently it is used by retreatants for hikes or
nature walks and by a local farmer for corn or hay planting. Future plans
include additional buildings for expanded ministry use.
Nestled
in an eighteen acre setting, just minutes from the busyness of the Liberty
Road/I-70 corridor is a quiet place to meet our gracious God. It provides a
touch of country, close in.

The
house itself consists of a 2-story building, about 20x25, having an upstairs
bath, two twin bedrooms and a sitting room that can sleep two. Downstairs is an
18x20 meeting room with kitchenette and half bath. Sliding doors open to a
sunny brick patio.

The
house is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, TV, VCR, piano, flip chart,
tape/CD player, Christian audio and video tapes and well stocked book shelves,
all available for your use.
The
house is connected by a screened patio to a 200 year old farmhouse which has
been the Stiegler's home since 1973. Both are surrounded by a white picket fence
and shaded by a grove of large, old trees. Adjacent farms add to the quiet and
seclusion.
This
ministry is a faith supported effort under the umbrella of Jubilee
Ministries, a Maryland 501,(3) (c) organization. Facilities
are available to individuals or groups on a pre-arranged basis for either day
use or overnight accommodations. Meals can be provided or you may provide your
own.
